SA Services

  • Appeals and Grievences - The Students’ Association is a separate, autonomous organization from the College. We are an independent, impartial and confidential resource for students. We provide information and guidance on students' rights & responsibilities, and NorQuest regulations & procedures. If you feel that you have been treated unfairly by an instructor or staff person you can contact the Students’ Association by phone and email for assistance.
  • Emergency Support - The Students’ Association provides emergency foodbank and travel assistance for students who find themselves emergency situations. These services are open to all NorQuest students, who have demonstrable financial need and who may otherwise be forced to postpone or discontinue the academic year.  A confidential assessment of your situation can be done over the phone.
  • Helping Hands Holiday Campaign - Students in need can register online to receive gifts for their children during the holiday season. All of the children registered will be put on a wish tree. Students, staff and faculty buy gifts for these children and then the Students’ Association sends them out.
  • Computers for Students - The Students’ Association sells used computers to students for $80.
  • Advocacy Groups -  Students’ Association fees fund the Students’ Association’s membership in the Alberta Student Executive Council (ASEC) and other advocacy groups. Through ASEC, the Students’ Association works on issues that affect both on-campus and off-campus students as well as society at large. ASEC was a leader in lobbying the government for the creation of the “Serving Communities Internship Program.”  For students, it creates both short-term and long-term solutions to increase the affordability of education. In the short-term, it provides students with a significant bursary to be used towards the costs of pursuing their studies, and in the long term, it allows students to gain important skills needed build meaningful careers. For more information about ASEC policy and current campaigns visit: www.albertastudents.ca
  • SANQC Campaigns -  The SANQC meets with representatives from various levels of government to lobby them on issues that have a direct impact on students. The SANQC forms coalitions with other groups that work on student issues to present a united front on affordable education, affordable housing, public transit and other important student issues. If you want to contribute to these campaigns or suggest other student issues that we should be working on, please contact the Students’ Association.

  • The Quest Student Newsletter - The Quest is the Students’ Association’s monthly student newsletter at NorQuest College and is available online to off-campus students. We want to encourage off-campus students to participate in contributing stories about their experiences.

  • Democratic Participation and Elections - As a member of the SANQC, you have the right to participate in the democratic processes of the Association and to take part in setting its direction, including running and voting in elections for Students’ Council, general meetings and referenda. Elections will be held by secure online ballot, which off-campus students will be able to access.

How can you have a say in how Students' Association money is spent? As a member of the Students’ Association you have the ability to make recommendations about additional services that you would like to see offered to both on and off campus students. It is our goal to make sure that NorQuest students have a voice. Students’ Council wants to hear how they can improve your experience at NorQuest.
